m/s TEATERSKEPPET
Almedalsveckan
In the summer of 2009, we came to Almedalen for the very first time, and since then Teaterskeppet has become a more or less permanent venue during Almedalen Week (with the exception of the COVID-19 years 2020 and 2021).
In collaboration with Sustainable Innovation, we annually host the Sustainability Arena, featuring around 50 seminars and welcoming approximately 5,000 visitors.
Located in a prime position in Visby Guest Harbour, we offer three different venues depending on the size of the seminar:
-
Main dining room – A spacious and airy venue accommodating up to 200 guests for panel discussions, conferences, and receptions
-
Conference hall – A seminar venue with seating for 218 guests
-
Small dining room – Ideal for smaller groups, with seating for up to 70 guests
As we operate under the name Sustainability Arena, great care is taken in our choice of ingredients. Throughout the week, only vegetarian food is served, and our two KRAV stars ensure a responsible and environmentally friendly selection of produce.
Accessibility is an important consideration for events during Almedalen Week. Due to the low quay in Visby Guest Harbour, we install a ramp outside the vessel to allow safe access for wheelchairs and mobility scooters. All areas are also equipped with hearing loops.
All bookings of Teaterskeppet during Almedalen Week 2025 are handled via Sustainable Innovation. For availability and further information, please contact Stina Rudert.
Top 3 Almedalen moments…

Breakfast with Kairos Future
Almost every year we attend Almedalen, Kairos Future hosts a breakfast seminar focused on future outlooks, often centered around the years 2030 or 2050.
We know these seminars are both insightful and popular, so each year we ask the organisers how many attendees they expect. The answer is almost always the same: “This time the topic is quite narrow, so we don’t expect a large crowd.” And yet the outcome is always the same as well—“We never imagined so many people would show up.”
Great fun every time, and we’ve learned an incredible amount about the future. A big thank you to Kairos Future!
Nordea & Greenpeace
It’s always exciting when two seemingly very different companies or organisations come together to host a joint seminar. This happens quite often at Almedalen, and one occasion we particularly remember is when Nordea and Greenpeace co-hosted the seminar “The Money or the Planet” in the summer of 2017. From what we understand, the organisers would never have imagined a few years earlier that they would be arranging a seminar together - but it turned out to be a great success, attracting a large audience and considerable attention.
We are also especially proud of the striking graphics we helped create for the side projections, which truly enhanced and framed the message of the seminar.

The unexpected meeting...
When a government agency hosted a seminar in 2019, it was only natural that various interest groups showed up to debate or ask the “difficult questions”—that is, after all, the very essence of what makes Almedalen Week so special. One such organisation attended a seminar and raised a series of relevant, and at times challenging, questions to the Director General who was part of the panel.
After the seminar, the two began talking, and we quickly arranged a table and two chairs on the sun deck where they could continue their conversation freely and undisturbed. The meeting lasted for more than two hours, and while a number of concerned communications officers anxiously paced the quay, wondering what was being discussed, we are convinced that many issues were resolved between the two.
For obvious reasons, we cannot name any names, as “The unexpected meeting” took place entirely informally.
Let’s make it happen!
Over the past 20+ years, we have hosted more than 2,500 events on board – ranging from breakfast meetings to full-day experiences in the archipelago. There is no standard template for our bookings; every event is tailor-made to suit your format and vision. And we never tire of it – we are convinced that there are at least 2,500 more unique events yet to be created, and we would be delighted to plan them together with you.
